Corner sofas are a great way of creating a modern living area but there are few things to remember when you style a corner sofa in the home!
Corner sofas are a great way of creating a modern living area, and offer enough seating to sprawl out whilst maximising living space – making them the perfect choice for the family home. They provide the ultimate comfort, yet still leave your room looking plush. Rebecca Snowden, Interior Style Advisor at Furniture Choice, shared her top tips on how to style a corner sofa in your home
1. Decide on a home décor theme
“A common mistake when buying a sofa is opting for a design and colour that’s going to match the rest of the room, rather than choosing something that you love and simply redecorating. Realistically, this is one of the biggest furniture investments you’re going to make, so pick a corner sofa that’s going to give you years of happiness and build the rest of the room’s theme around it.”

2. Fill the room with light
“Corner sofas help determine the layout of your living room and can quickly become the focal point. However, some designs can make smaller spaces feel cramped if they’re not styled correctly. If your room lacks natural light, try adding a floor lamp behind the sofa to make the room brighter and more appealing. In smaller spaces, opt for a sofa that is raised up from the ground with sleek, modern legs to allow light to flow around the room and give it an airy, welcoming look.”

3. Mix and match your cushions
“Bright, embroidered cushions can be used to match other statement accessories, or even a feature wall. They can add a pop of colour to neutral décor, or tie the whole look together if using darker, bold colours on the wall. While many sofas come with occasional scatter cushions, changing these can give your corner sofa a personal touch and help you to keep your room fresh and up to date.”

4. Add some finishing touches
“Once you’ve found the perfect corner sofa, it’s important not to neglect the rest of the room. There are ways to make the whole room stand out while still keeping focus on the corner sofa centrepiece. Add an elegant rug to wooden floors for an understated, homely feel, and incorporate other pieces such as coffee tables, wall art and accessories to bring the whole look together.”
