Summer may be about sun, sea and sand but it’s also a pretty good time to get to the cinema too – here’s our pick of the summer blockbusters you need to be watching
As movie releases go, 2018 has had a slow first half of the year but it’s not all been bleak. Fifty Shades Freed helped us through winter, we were astonished by Gary Oldman’s portrayal of Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour and the world went rabbit crazy for Peter Rabbit. But if you are still waiting for a blockbuster film to leave you stunned with entertainment delight then hold on to your seats because this summer is going to be a blinder.
Here’s our pick of the 2018 summer blockbusters not to miss.

Directed by J.A Bayona and with stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning for a second installment, the legend continues with the latest release from the dinosaur franchise.
Plot: It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles. When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.
