Could this be one of the most romantic cities to finally pop the question?

Paris

They say it’s the city of love so and one of the most romantic cities to take your other half for a romantic short break. From the impressive culture, to the decadent food and the shopping, Paris has everything love struck couples could wish for.

You’ll no doubt have a list of places to visit on your stay in Paris, and with attractions like The Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, Arc De Triomphe and The Eiffel Tower, there are some busy sight-seeing days ahead.

But Paris has much more to offer those who are looking for a romantic infusion and you will find yourself soaked in its charm by the time you leave. Romance is a part of everything in the city. Couples take to the pavements of the River Seine for long walks at dusk, restaurants and bars flicker in the candle light of intimate dinners for two, and museums and art galleries are filled with romanticists caught up in the beautiful tales of the past.

There really couldn’t be a better place to say Je t’aime!

Venice

Some would argue that Venice has taken the lead as the most romantic place in the world. There are plenty of sites and attractions which make it a couples dream, from the contemporary art scene to the indulgent Italian cuisine, quaint waterside bars, and the peaceful gondola rides on the cities’ canal streets. But actually one of the most romantic things to do in Venice is on foot.

Strolling through the Piazza San Marco at night or early in the morning to hear the cathedral bells ringing, and catching the breathtaking setting of this popular location at a more discreet time, can be just as magical. What’s more, climbing the San Giorgio bell tower to see the magnificent view of the city and the famous red rooftops, and drinking wine at dusk along the canal, are all must-do activities for loved-up visitors.

If it’s a good enough setting for George Clooney, the most famous bachelor in Hollywood, to finally tie the knot to wife Amal Alamuddin in 2014, it’s certainly worth flirting with the idea of taking a trip this February with your partner.

Barcelona

Those with an affection for the Catalonian laid back way of life will find more than enough romance in the beautiful and alluring Barcelona. The food, the wine, the buildings, the clubs, and the sea – it has all the excitement of a city break with a relaxing beach holiday vibe thrown in.

Gaze longingly at each other over long afternoons devouring tapas and sangria, wander Las Ramblas in the evening to enjoy the local street artists and musicians, and take an afternoon siesta. Total bliss!

Whisk your partner off here for a few days and you’ll be falling in love with each other all over again, as well as succumbing to the enchanting city itself.

Kyoto

If it’s unique you are looking for, jump right into your own fairy tale in the Japanese city of Kyoto. Steeped in culture and legends, Kyoto has an air of mystery that couples can get wonderfully lost in. It used to be Japan’s capital until the mid-19th Century, leaving behind a wealth of heritage sites to explore against a backdrop of beautiful cherry blossoms and quaint tea houses.

Stepping away from the more modernised centre and you will be transported back in time thanks to the picturesque parks and gardens that surround it. Peaceful lakes, pagodas and elaborate landscaping make Kyoto a destination perfect for lovers.

See the spectacular Kinkakuji Temple, make a wish at the waterfall of the Kiyomizu-dera and take the 25 minute Sagano scenic train ride along the remarkable Hozu River coastline; dates will never be the same again.

Watch the sunset over the harbour or take to the water on a dinner cruise.  Lay your hands on the stunning Sydney Opera House, and maybe even go in and see a show!  Stay in one of the wonderful hotels and drink with locals at darling harbour after dark.

Head in to the city for some unbeatable night life, pay a visit to Bondi Beach, have a picnic at the botanical gardens and catch one of the open air movies. You’ll be thrown through the ages with culture and fun you and your partner will love.

And don’t forget to visit the mountain side Taronga Zoo; if getting up close and personal with cuddly Koalas and cute kangaroos doesn’t do it for you, then nothing will!
