We’ve picked out five outing ideas for Mother’s Day in Staffordshire to help treat her to the best weekend ever
What better way to treat Mum on Mother’s Day than with a fun outing somewhere? Whether Mum likes calm and tranquil, a glimpse of history or a major adrenaline rush there’s plenty on offer.
We’ve lined up five ideas to give you some inspiration.
1. Trentham Monkey Forest
Mums go free on Mother’s Day so why not head out to see the monkeys at the Trentham tourist attraction? As long as you book in advance online using the code MUMSTREAT you’re good to go.
There’s also an onsite café too where you can treat Mum to lunch, or you could pop up the road to the Trentham Shopping Village where there are eateries and treats to try.
2. Ironbridge Gorge
If your mum loves stepping back in history then Ironbridge is a perfect place to visit.
And on Mother’s Day there’s also free entry for mums to the many museums, including Blists Hill Victorian Town, Coalport China Museum, Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron, Jackfield Tile Museum, Enginuity and the Museum of the Gorge.
And with the glorious bridge at the centre of it all you can also explore the many shops and scenery surrounding the famous gorge and treat mum to lunch or cake in one of the many cafes and restaurants.
3. Get crafty at Sudbury Hall
Sudbury Hall and National Trust Museum of Childhood in Ashbourne is a great place to explore.
And on Mother’s day there’s a crafting event where visitors can decorate a mini photo frame and either add a special Mother’s Day message or use it for a treasured photograph.
The event runs 11am-4pm. Don’t forget to treat Mum in the tea room and head for a browse in the gift shop and second hand book store.
Mums who love an adrenaline rush might want to head to the Tamworth Snowdome.
With fun snow sessions, skiing, tubing, snowboarding, ice-skating and climbing on offer there’s sure to be something to satisfy the need for adventure. And it’s fun for all the family too.
5. Bicester Village
For shopping-made mums you could take a trip further afield to Bicester Village in Oxfordshire.
The designer shopping outlet features discounted products so you could bag a designer bargain.
Many stores don’t open until midday on Sunday, which means Mum can enjoy breakfast in bed before the shopping trip. There are also plenty of restaurants to choose from for breakfast, lunch or dinner, so mums can really be spoilt rotten.
Now all you have to do is pick her up and off you go!
