The map showcasing the best of this year’s Staffordshire County Show has been revealed by organisers to help visitors plan their day.

The half term family show, which regularly attracts more than 70,000 people over two days, will feature the best of family entertainment and the world of agriculture.

This year’s event at the showground on Weston Road will take place on May 29 and 30 and will feature main ring attractions including motorbike stunt team the Bolddog Lings and scurry drivers as well as an antiques fair, food hall, craft hall and trade stands.

Show secretary Holly Hobson said there has been a lot of interest in the map since it was revealed online.

She said: “Since the map was posted on our Facebook page we’ve had lots of people reacting to it and commenting to say they are coming.

“It doesn’t show everything in detail but gives a good overview of the site, so visitors can decide if they want to start their day in the woodland and country pursuits area or at the other end of the site by the fur and feather marquee and vintage machinery.

“We want people to be able to see just how much we have on offer for them to enjoy and also plan a route so you can see as much as possible when you’re here.

“Each year we have so many people telling us that they didn’t get to see everything in one day.

“It’s also helpful to know where toilets, refreshments, first aid and cash points can be found.”

A full programme of events will be on sale on the doors to the showground and around the show itself.

The show, sponsored by South Staffordshire College and South Staffordshire Water, will also feature farriers in action, giant tortoises and animals for children to pet including calves, sheep, guinea pigs and rabbits in the Animal Experience marquee.

There will be falconry displays, a ferret roadshow, pig agility, a sheep show and fly casting demonstrations for fishermen too.

“Our main ring attractions are especially popular,” adds Holly, “but there is plenty to see around the whole site.

“Woodfest, in the Showground’s own 15 acre wood, always proves popular with visitors, with a chance to see how our woodland is managed and get expert tips on basket making, clog making and try your hand at making willow wands or see spoon carving demonstrations.

“People can walk around the woodland trail and take advantage of the picnic area.

“The wooded area also plays host to the mud kitchen, where youngsters can take part in some messy play.

“With so much going on, you can see why we wanted to get our map out there.”

Advance tickets are now on sale.
