Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been announced as the latest big-name act to perform at the Statfold Barn Festival in Staffordshire this summer. Find out all the details below
Famous for hit songs like Murder on the Dancefloor, Take me Home, Get Over You and her first big hit Groovejet (with DJ Spiller), Sophie Ellis-Bextor will headline the main festival stage of the Statfold Barn Festival on Friday August 9. She has notched up 14 top 40 singles during her 20-year career and sold millions of albums.
The Statfold Barn Festival will take place August 9-11 at Statfold Barn Railway, Tamworth, Staffordshire.
Tamworth-based promoter, Alex Farrell, said: “We are thrilled that Sophie Ellis-Bextor will be headlining our main festival stage on the Friday night. She is an incredible singer with a string of hit songs and in great demand – she’s supporting Kylie on her UK tour this summer – so we are all absolutely delighted that Sophie has agreed to come and perform in Tamworth.
“We are putting together an incredible line-up of music and other entertainment to appeal to everyone so I recommend booking your super early bird tickets now before they run out.”
Other acts already announced for the three-day festival include local favourite Tony Christie, most famous for the classic track Is this the way to Amarillo, Boyzlife (Brian McFadden from Westlife and Keith Duffy from Boyzone) – two of the biggest boybands in history performing a whole host of their biggest chart hits – party group S Club 3, Toploader, who had a huge hit with Dancing in the Moonlight, soul legend Kenny Thomas, and the amazing Bootleg Beatles.
Ocean Colour Scene’s Andy Bennett and tribute acts Oasis Experience, Abba Reunion and Rod Stewart Experience will also be entertaining the crowds along with Tamworth-based band The Pinch, top comedian Mark Dolan and legendary TV and radio host Paul Ross.
The Statfold Barn Festival will have a range of incredible street food and drink, fairground rides, as well as plenty of other attractions for the whole family and children’s entertainment.
Visitors can book camping and glamping which will be available on site, bring their caravans and campervans, and even upgrade to enjoy a VIP experience.
Set within 1,000 acres of breathtaking Staffordshire countryside, the Statfold Barn Railway is home to a narrow two ft gauge railway and extensive private collection of 30 historic steam locomotives.
