World of Wedgwood in Barlaston, Stoke-On-Trent, is the ultimate visitor destination to experience the Wedgwood brand.

From Halloween pottery painting to exploring the nearby Hem Heath Woods, October half term at World of Wedgwood means fun for the whole family

October Half Term Fun: Halloween Pottery Painting and Autumn Activities
Saturday 24 October – Sunday 1 November

October half term at World of Wedgwood means fun for the whole family from Halloween pottery painting, creating unique Christmas baubles and pot throwing, to museum trails, delicious dining and bracing woodland walks.

Halloween Pottery Painting

Pick up a paintbrush and get creating – the spookier the designs, the better.

Prices start from £5.

Create a Unique Christmas Bauble

Have a personal design applied to a ceramic bauble to create a unique Christmas gift or keepsake. The bauble can be left to be fired in the kiln then collected when it’s ready to hang on the tree.

Price: £18.00 for firing and collection.

Pot Throwing

Learn how to throw a pot on the potter’s wheel with help from a World of Wedgwood expert, from wedging the clay to creating a pottery piece to be proud of. Currently available for those aged 12 years and over. Fired pots can be painted at home for a personalised, unique design.

Price: £20 for firing and collection.

Design a Plate

Visitors can get creative by drawing their own design to be transferred onto a Wedgwood plate. Using pencils, crayons and felt tips they can let their imagination go wild to create a piece of art to be treasured forever.

Prices from £30.

Discover the V&A Collection at World of Wedgwood

The former Wedgwood museum is now part of the V&A and is known as the V&A Collection at World of Wedgwood. It is one of the most important industrial collections in the world. With 3,000 objects on display in the galleries, visitors can take their time escaping into a world of creation and innovation.

Younger visitors can take the Pottery Spotters’ trail which will guide them through one of the world’s most important industrial collections, with a prize for every completed activity sheet.

The collection is open every day during half term week, from 10 am to 5 pm, free entry for everyone.

Take Afternoon Tea in the Wedgwood Tea Room

Wedgwood is synonymous with tea so, for afternoon tea enthusiasts, a delicious afternoon tea in the elegant Wedgwood Tea Room is a must. The whole family can get involved as there’s also a children’s afternoon tea with a twist!

Adult afternoon tea is £25 per person, children’s afternoon tea is £12 per child (under 12 years).

New for 2020, the Wedgwood Afternoon Tea is available as a takeaway. Beautifully presented in a Wedgwood gift box, it makes an imaginative, indulgent gift (can also be upgraded to include Wedgwood’s finest tea ware at 20% off RRP).

Explore Hem Heath Woods

Right on World of Wedgwood’s doorstep are Hem Heath Woods (recently seen on the BBC’s Countryfile). Stroll through the network of paths and discover the trees, woodland birds and wildflowers that inhabit this Staffordshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve – a green oasis featuring an ancient woodland site.

Woodland walks take around 25 minutes.
