If there was ever a time to wear it pink it would be today– in support of Breast Cancer Awareness
And that’s just what one salon in Staffordshire – 81 Rose Garden – has done.
The team of hair stylists, beauticians and aesthetic clinicians based on Clayton Road in Newcastle-under-Lyme are taking part in the Breast Cancer Now ‘Wear it Pink Day’ – one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK.
Today, thousands of people all over the country will be donning their very best pink clobber in support of the cause. The event taking place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which happens in October every year.
Founder and hairdresser of the Salon, Jen Regan says that, like most women, both she and her team have been touched by breast cancer, and on ‘Wear it Pink Day’ they want to remind women of the importance of checking their breasts while raising money to support Breast Cancer Now.
“Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. It is estimated that 1 in 7 women will develop it,” she said.
“However, we all need to be reminded of the importance of checking our breasts regularly because the earlier the condition is diagnosed, the greater the chance of successful treatment.”
Jen and her daughters Maddie, Regan and Georgina Mullan, and salon manager Sam Wetwood, are all sporting pink hair and clothes while manning a Pink Pop-Up Shop sited adjacent to the salon on Clayton Road.
They are selling a variety of goods including Kevin Murphy hair products and pink silk items from Silk Works London, including hair scrunchies, face and eye masks and pillow cases.
They are also be showing off their culinary skills with a fabulous selection of baked goods on sale in memory of those who have lost the battle with breast cancer.
“The local community is really supporting the cause,” Jen continues. “We are open until 7.00pm tonight so there is still time to show your support by booking an appointment, giving money, popping in to buy something from our Pink Pop Up Shop or simply making a donation.”
The event is open to all and runs until 7.00pm at 81 Rose Garden, 81 Clayton Road, Newcastle Under Lyme.
