Staffordshire Living was invited along to the award-winning Bros Distillery opening its new cocktail bar SIXTOWNS by Bros Distillery at World of Wedgewood in Barlaston on February 25th 2023. Considering the company was founded just three years ago meteoric rise to success comes from the hard work of the owners, brothers Vitalijs and Alex Rackovs working alongside Laura Howley Strategic Partnerships Director.
So, one may wonder what the inspiration and circumstances as to why SIXTOWNS came to be born. With a background in selling state-of-the-art Genio Distillery equipment, The boys who settled in Stoke in the 90’s had always dreamed of crafting their own spirit, following in the footsteps of their grandparents whom they used to watch distilling during time in their native Latvia. So, using secret family recipes, they perfected crafting spirits during the free time the lockdown gave them, and SIXTOWNS was born.
Celebrating their connection with the Potteries and renowned local ceramic producers, all SIXTOWNS products are made locally and presented in stunning one-of-a-kind kiln shaped ceramic bottles which truly capture contemporary craftsmanship and timeless spirit of Stoke-on-Trent. It’s a dream come true, the SIXTOWNS open right where they belong – the birthplace of none other than the famous Wedgwood.
The Bar which is located at the far end of the World of Wedgewood courtyard (next to the Fiskars store), the new 1050square metre distillery opened its doors to the bar on Saturday, and it will very soon will include a retail shop and bar, tours, plus gin and cocktail masterclasses. It will also be available for private events or corporate hire so individuals and business users can really impress their guests with unforgettable experiences.
At the much-anticipated opening party, guests were welcomed with a glass of fizz and entertained by live music. Upon entry, everyone was amazed at how contemporary yet luxuriously appointed the newly opened distillery bar looked – it would make for an amazing Instagram picture!
I tried the signature SIXTOWNS pink gin with tonic and my husband had the Mojito, they were both gorgeous and I then couldn’t resist trying the SIXTOWNS London dry gin, which was my favourite. With the large hand-built kiln shaped sculpture in the middle of the bar that is more than a nod to the fact that the owners have embraced Stoke on Trent as their forever home.
At their new home they are in great company with Lunar – Michelin starred restaurant and Wedgwood next door. It will certainly enhance the visitors experience and also will give the local population a great bar to visit locally. We are sure it will become a firm favourite.
