The Lunar Art and Wine Society is a monthly series of events in which guest speakers are invited to showcase the best of Staffordshire’s artists. Alongside each month’s presentation, guests will be able to learn more about a selection of wines here at Lunar.
Joining us this month is artist Denise Griggs and her presentation ‘Painting the Intangible’.
Denise will be demonstrating how art can physically and mentally impact the observer, showing how her work is a conversation concerning the spiritual and science in art. She will be focusing specifically on her own art and philosophy – ‘Colour as a medical tool ‘.
We will be delving into the medicinal use of colour in ancient cultures and the emerging research in modern diagnostic work and colour treatments. Touching on mathematics and colour frequency, Denise will discuss the impact this has on her paintings. We will find out where her inspirations come from including creatives such as Johannes Itten, Mark Rothko, Author and Doctor Dinshah P. Ghadiali, as well as learning more about her place in the world of ‘otherness’.
Guest’s will begin the evening by enjoying a small wine tasting of two selected wines to learn more about the wines on offer here at our restaurant. For Lunar Art and Wine Society evenings only these, along with other selected wines can be purchased with a discount to enjoy during the rest of the evening or to take home.
There will be new works from Denise being exhibited on the evening, both paintings and ceramics, so join us at 6.30pm to enjoy an evening full of art, wine, intrigue and conversation.
