A long standing Tamworth favourite has been renamed Zaazu, had a stylish new look and has expanded its offering with an enhanced modern menu.

After a glittering launch, Zaazu opened its doors last week to a room full of eager customers. Previously known as Simla Restaurant, the rebranded Indian restaurant marks a new chapter in the restaurant’s journey.

Mo Nanu owner of Zaazu, said: “After 20 years of business it was time to evolve and reboot after the pressures of the pandemic. The new name represents our cooking style and method because it’s very traditional. But we’ve also added the Western influence in terms of presentation and aesthetics. The name ‘Zaazu’ also has a bit more pizzazz. The feedback has been phenomenal, and we can’t wait for new customers to come and try it.”

The new menu created by Nikhil Mahale, is set to captivate the taste buds of Midlands residents with its innovative dishes and relaxed dining experience. With a perfect blend of traditional Indian flavours and contemporary influences, Zaazu aims to redefine modern Indian cooking in the region, offering a unique culinary journey that will delight even the most discerning palates.

Under the creative guidance of Chef Nikhil, Zaazu presents an array of signature dishes that promise to wow your taste buds. Chef has put together a new team of highly-trained and experienced chefs from India itself, lending true provenance to the dishes.

With a passion for cooking and a commitment to great hospitality, Zaazu is poised to become the go-to destination for upmarket Indian dining in the Midlands.

Some highlights from the menu include:

Whole Seabream in Banana Leaf: A Keralan delight, the seabream is expertly cooked in a banana leaf on the grill, infusing it with a burst of flavours.

Lamb Shank Biryani: Prepared in the authentic ‘dum’ style, this biryani is a culinary masterpiece that combines succulent lamb shank with fragrant spices covered with a pastry lid.

Delhi Chicken: A classic dish that has stood the test of time, the Delhi Chicken at Zaazu is a must-try for its robust flavours and tender chicken.

Duck Kebab: Infused with a blend of 17 different spices and a touch of apricot powder, this kebab is flambeed with brandy, adding a French flair to Indian cuisine.

Beef Brisket in Coconut Milk: Cooked with curry leaves, mustard, and lemongrass in rich coconut milk, this dish showcases the perfect harmony of Indian and tropical flavours.

The restaurant takes pride in its dedication to seafood, presenting traditional Indian flavours with a focus on charcoal cooking. Guests will soon be able to choose their own live lobster from the tank, ensuring the freshest and most indulgent dining experience.
