After another wonderful Lunar Art and Wine Society event last month, we are very excited to be able to introduce prize-winning professional artist Peter Davis as the next artist to join us this September, with his presentation and exhibition of work, including new work created especially for this event at our restaurant.

Peter Davis: Painting the Zeitgeist
Peter is currently exploring the zeitgeist through contemporary urban landscapes and portraiture. His work has been selected for exhibitions throughout the UK and is held in both public and private collections. After winning first prize in the Three Counties Open Exhibition in Burslem in 2017, he was selected for the John Moores Painting Prize, Britain’s foremost contemporary painting competition in 2020. In addition to being a professional artist, he is an elected member and archivist of the Manchester Academy of Fine Arts and passionate about art history.
With artists painting the here and now for centuries, Peter will look back into art history to the work of Edward Hopper and talk to us about the themes in his own work, to discover why documenting the zeitgeist is so important for many artists.
Peter has been creating new work especially for this event, which will be exhibited on the night!
