SMASH-HIT COMEDY ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS SET TO DELIGHT NEW VIC AUDIENCES THIS APRIL

The New Vic will bring to life one of the greatest comedies of the 21st century this April as they stage One Man, Two Guvnors, Richard Bean’s smash-hit play. Given a rare in-the-round staging, the show runs at the theatre from Friday 12 April until Saturday 11 May and features New Vic favourite Michael Hugo (Marvellous, Around The World In 80 Days) in the iconic role of Francis Henshall.

Set in Brighton in 1963, One Man, Two Guvnors sees Francis Henshall sacked from his band and out of work. But he can’t be kept down for too long and he’s soon got not one, but two dubious new employers. There’s just one problem… they can’t know about each other! With money to be made and a love interest to woo, Francis has got his hands full. Juggling the work of a small-town gangster and a man on the run from the police, can he keep himself and his bosses out of trouble long enough to bank some cash and win the hand of the love of his life?

Directed by Conrad Nelson (The Card, Brassed Off, Anna of The Five Towns) and featuring lots of fast-paced physical comedy, live music and plenty of mayhem, this new production of One Man, Two Guvnors will have audiences grinning from ear-to-ear.

The One Man, Two Guvnors cast includes Gareth Cooper (Bob Marley: One Love, Paramount Pictures, The Crown, Netflix) as Stanley Stubbers; Howard Chadwick (Brassed Off, Derby Theatre, The Card, New Vic Theatre) Charlie Clench; Thomas Cotran (Song of the Sytch, Claybody Theatre, The Great Gatsby, Grosvenor Open Air Theatre Chester) as Alan Dangle; Jessica Dyas (The Card, Treasure Island, New Vic Theatre) as Dolly; Lucinda Freeburn (The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, New Vic Theatre) as Rachel Crabbe; Nick Haverson (Charlie & Stan, Told by an Idiot, Amadeus, New Vic Theatre) as Alfie; Michael Hugo (Marvellous, Around The World In 80 Days, New Vic Theatre) as Francis Henshall; Alyce Liburd (A Leap in the Dark, New Vic Theatre, Song of the Sytch, Claybody Theatre) as Pauline; Jonathan Markwood (Cinderella, Derby Theatre, Votes for Women, New Vic Theatre) as Harry Dangle; Daniel Miles (Footloose, Selladoor Dubai and UK Tour, Dick Whittington: The Rock n’ Roll Panto, Leeds Heritage Theatres) as Gareth and Declan Wilson (Coronation Street, ITV, Beauty and the Beast, The Dukes Lancaster) as Lloyd Boateng.

One Man, Two Guvnors takes to the stage at the New Vic from Friday 12 April – Saturday 11 May 2024. Tickets are on sale now, priced from £10.00. For more information and to book call the Box Office on 01782 717962 or purchase them online at newvictheatre.org.uk.
