Dougie Mac says thank you to loyal volunteers

Photo Opportunity – Volunteer thank you event, Sunday 2nd June, SIXTOWNS by Bros Distillery at Wedgwood, 4pm – 7pm.

Dougie Mac is hosting thank you events for its dedicated volunteers as part of national Volunteers’ Week, which runs from 3rd to 9th June.

The events at SIXTOWNS Gin at World of Wedgwood, Biddulph fire station and West End Church, Stoke, will thank Dougie Mac’s volunteers for the huge contribution they make.

Dougie Mac relies on more than 700 volunteers who give their time on a regular basis within the charity’s local shops, hospice sites in Blurton and Trentham, and across the local community.

Sarah Thomas, Head of Volunteer Services at Dougie Mac, said, “Volunteers’ Week is a chance to celebrate the amazing contribution volunteers make to communities across the UK. At Dougie Mac our volunteers are essential to the work we do, we have almost twice as many volunteers as staff members, and every single one of them plays a huge role in the day-to-day running of the charity. These events are a chance for us to say a big thank you for the fantastic contribution our volunteers make.”

As part of Volunteers’ Week, Dougie Mac is also encouraging potential volunteers to get in touch as the charity is always looking for more people to join its teams.

Sarah added, “We’re always looking for more people to join our teams and give their time. And it’s not just Dougie Mac who benefits, as many of our volunteers tell us they get such a lot from the experience, from meeting new friends and learning new skills, to gaining life experience and growing confidence. It really is a win win.”
