About The Duncombe Arms

Renovated by Johnny and Laura Greenall, who after driving past the boarded-up pub every day decided to reinstate it as the hub of the village, The Duncombe Arms is also home to Walnut House; ten cosy bedrooms. For families and groups, they offer The Old Barn, a self-catered cottage sleeping six people across three rooms; and Garden Cottage, a separate self-catering cottage sleeping up to 6 guests.

Known as ‘the local we all wish we had’, The Duncombe Arms is recognised for its award-winning food and incredible wine list, carefully curated by General Manager James Oddy. A culinary gem for those in the know, Head Chef, Scott Law creates exciting menus which have led to the pub retaining a Michelin Bib Gourmand for four years, being placed in the top 30 by the Estrella Damn Top 50 Gastropubs, as well as being named ‘Pub of the Year 2024’ at the Enjoy Staffordshire Tourism and Good Food awards.

Located on the edge of the Peak District and a stone’s throw from the Pennines, this unspoilt countryside of the Dove Valley, in which The Duncombe Arms sits, offers exceptional walking and beautiful views without the crowds of the neighbouring areas.
