Lily Man of SureCare Stoke

Businesswoman launches new SureCare home care service in Stoke-on-Trent

A businesswoman has set up her own home care service after recovering from an illness.

Lily Man was inspired to launch her own business after being cared for by her family when she had a chronic health condition.

Lily, who lives in Market Drayton in Shropshire, has opened a new SureCare franchise in Stoke-on-Trent.

Founded in 1994, and celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, SureCare provides a wide range of care and support services, allowing people to stay living at home. It is the first SureCare franchise in Staffordshire.

Once Lily is registered by the Care Quality Commission, she will also be able to provide a range of regulated care services.

Lily, who previously worked in the financial services sector, said: “When I was poorly 18 months ago and recovering from a number of operations, I really relied on my sisters and my mum to look after me. But I realised that not everyone is fortunate enough to have family nearby to support them.

“I’ve got a strong entrepreneurial drive so when I was better, I decided I wanted to set up a home care service business to provide the sort of care that I received from my family to other people.

“Working in the banking sector for most of my career has meant working with numbers a lot of the time. I’m really excited to be working with people now and to be growing my own business.

“My ambition is to bring more quality to the home care sector and to develop a team of staff equally as passionate as me about delivering brilliant services to our clients.

“It means treating people with dignity, fully respecting them and listening to them. Loneliness is such an epidemic in this country, which is why I want our care workers to take the time to talk to people when they go into their homes. I believe that with the right level of care, you can get a new lease of life and you can still make a valuable contribution to society.

“I love that SureCare is a family business and that it has been providing its services for 30 years. I’m proud to be representing the company in Stoke-on-Trent and I’m looking forward to growing my team and expanding into rural areas too.”

Once SureCare Stoke-on-Trent receives its CQC registration, it will be able to offer domiciliary care, live-in care, respite and holiday care, and dementia and Alzheimer’s care. The company is currently offering a range of non-regulated services including home services, pet care, shopping, cleaning and handyman work, as well as childcare services like baby sitting and mobile crèche.

Gary Farrer, Managing Director of SureCare, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Lily on board as our first franchisee in Stoke-on-Trent. We love her commitment to providing the best possible care to clients, something that is central to the SureCare ethos.”

SureCare, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, is one of the UK’s fastest growing care companies with franchises operating across the UK.
