Time Out Tuesday at Manor House Alsager: A Midweek Escape That Delivers

By Chrissie Woodward Staffordshire Living

In a world where burnout has become all too common, the idea of a midweek wellness break sounded almost indulgent. But after experiencing Manor House Alsager’s Time Out Tuesday package last week, I can confidently say this isn’t just indulgence—it’s essential self-care that every stressed professional deserves.

My friend Valerie and I arrived on Tuesday between 4pm and 7pm, and from the moment we stepped through the doors, the Manor House team made us feel welcomed and valued. Every single member of staff we encountered—from the front desk to the waiting staff, bar team, and spa attendants—was professional, thoughtful, informative, and genuinely happy to help. It’s rare to find such consistent excellence across an entire team, but it truly elevated our experience.

Dinner at The Stables Restaurant: A Culinary Triumph

Dinner in the award-winning Stables Restaurant was nothing short of amazing. We started with garlic prawns that set the tone for what was to come. For my main course, I chose the sea bass, which was absolutely out of this world—perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Valerie had the same and was equally impressed. The meal came with a complimentary bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, which was beautiful and paired wonderfully with our seafood.

For dessert, Valerie indulged in the sticky toffee pudding with custard, while I opted for the Baileys cheesecake that was, quite simply, to die for. Every element of the meal was top notch, showcasing the kitchen’s commitment to quality and flavour.

A Room That Invites Rest

Our room was absolutely gorgeous—the kind of space that immediately makes you exhale and let go of the week’s tension. The luxury and comfort promised in the package description were fully delivered, setting us up for a genuinely restful night’s sleep.

Breakfast: Starting Wednesday Right

Wednesday morning’s breakfast offered an impressive array of options, ranging from a buffet with cereals, toast, and all the continental choices, to what looked like a huge local farmhouse breakfast. I opted for something a bit different—smoked salmon and avocado on an English muffin with a poached egg. It was the perfect fuel for the spa experience ahead.

The Spa: In a Class of Its Own

Here’s where Manor House Alsager truly shines. The spa is in a class of its own, and it’s fast becoming the most comprehensive spa in the area. The English Spa Garden is an absolute revelation, offering an incredible range of thermal experiences that made our four hours feel like we’d been away for days rather than just an overnight stay.

We explored the sauna and steam room, both of which were impeccably maintained and provided the perfect environment for deep relaxation. While the cold water plunge was available (and I’m sure invigorating!), I’ll admit I didn’t brave that particular experience. Instead, we luxuriated in the two pools, both featuring swim-up bars—a touch of pure indulgence that added a holiday feel to our midweek escape.

The indoor cabana beds around the second pool are perfect for cooler days, providing a cozy retreat where you can relax in comfort regardless of the weather. The relaxing spa whirlpool was another highlight, offering gentle hydrotherapy that eased away tension.

One of my favourite discoveries was the heated beds in the Laconicum—a peaceful sanctuary where time seemed to slow down. The beds that overlook the fields offered a connection to nature that enhanced the sense of escape, while the new mindfulness relaxation building was transformative. Popping on the headphones and drifting off in a calming sea of mindfulness was exactly what my overstressed mind needed.

It’s worth noting that the indoor pool was being updated during our visit, and the team shared exciting plans to expand the venue further out behind the second pool. This spa isn’t resting on its laurels—they’re continuously expanding and adding more to the experience, which speaks volumes about their commitment to excellence.

The Midweek Magic

What struck me most about the Time Out Tuesday package is how the timing transforms the experience. Being able to access the spa facilities and then return again in the morning made it feel like we were away for a couple of days instead of just an overnighter. There’s something psychologically powerful about breaking up the work week with such thorough relaxation—it reframes Wednesday not as “hump day” but as a fresh start.

Final Thoughts

I would wholeheartedly recommend the Time Out Tuesday experience for all it offers. The combination of exceptional dining, luxurious accommodation, professional and genuinely happy staff, and world-class spa facilities creates something truly special.

As we approach the Christmas season, this would make an amazing gift voucher or an inspired alternative to a traditional Christmas party. Instead of another night of forced festivity, imagine giving your team or loved ones the gift of genuine restoration and wellness.

Manor House Alsager has proven that wellness doesn’t have to wait for the weekend. Sometimes, the most radical act of self-care is taking a Tuesday off and investing in your wellbeing when you need it most. After experiencing this midweek retreat, I returned to the rest of my week feeling refreshed, restored, and ready to tackle whatever came next.
