St Dominic’s Grammar School celebrates 100 years with top A-level results

St. Dominic’s is commencing their centenary celebrations with a bang thanks to a stellar sweep of A-Level exam results

Students are celebrating some of the best A-Level results in the school’s 100-year history with  82% of students achieving A* to B grades.

The small class sizes and excellent teaching has supported students with their consistent progress throughout the year. The 100% pass rate means that everyone will be attending their first choice of university from September.

Headmaster, Peter McNabb, said: “We can all appreciate that this year has been very different from previous. These results are in line with the predicted grades already submitted to UCAS and are very well deserved. I am extremely proud of our young Dominicans.”

After successfully carrying out remote teaching during the lockdown, further investment and renovation have continued over the summer. And with increasing student numbers, a new state-of-the-art Science Lab will be unveiled for Preparatory pupils at the beginning of term, along with brand new external cricket nets.

Plus, experienced additional staff have been employed in a range of areas across the school to meet demands. The school will continue to protect the outstanding pupil to staff ratio.

Health and safety continues to be vital and the school has invested in a new high-tech CCTV and security system to make it the most secure school in the area.

To ensure St. Dominic’s remains as inclusive as possible, there will be a new fee structure for 2020.

Key entry points into the school will have a reduced fee, such as:

  • Years 7 and 12 will have an annual starting fee of only £7750.
  • The Reception class will stand respectively at £5250 annually.
  • Year 1 will have an annual starting fee of £5500.

For those considering an in-year transfer, you can enquire now for availability.

And finally, it is now the third year that boys have been admitted into the Senior School. This positive transition has allowed for gender-balanced year groups as students progress through the school.

Following COVID regulations, St. Dominic’s will be holding their 11+ Entrance Examination and Whole School Open Morning on Saturday 10th October. The school invites you to go along for a tour of the school to view our new facilities and meet our experienced teachers, and to experience firsthand the warm and family environment.

If you are unable to attend our Open Day, please contact our Admissions Secretary to arrange an alternative time on (01902) 850428 or via email: secretary@stdominicsgrammarschool.co.uk.
