Soccer Aid 2020

The World X1 team retain their Soccer Aid 2020 title in nail biting charity clash

The biggest charity football match of the year returned to our television screens last night as an England team of celebrities and footballing legends took on the Soccer Aid World X1 team in aid of leading children's charity Unicef.

Battling out to become champions were the likes of Wayne Rooney, Joe Wicks, Olly Murs and Joel Dommett. But the England team could only muster three goals losing the coveted title to title defenders on the World X1 team with likes of Harry Redknapp, Jason Manford and Mo Gilligan finishing with four goals.

At full-time both teams had scored one a piece. But in a nail biting penalty shoot out finish which saw England’s Chunkz (aka English musician and entertainer, Amin Mohamed) miss his crucial shot, the World X1 team and defending champions took the title.

The football match, which has been an annual event since 2006, calls on celebrities to take part with the aim to entertain the nation and raise much needed funds for Unicef.

To date, Soccer Ad for Unicef has raised more than £38 million since the first match.
