Get vaccinated to avoid covid this summer

Staffordshire residents can play their part in minimising the spread of Covid-19 this summer.

Getting fully vaccinated and taking sensible precautions is key to staying safe.

With the promise of warmer weather over the next couple of months, many people will be looking forward to attending festivals and large events with friends and family.

With cases of Covid in Staffordshire and across England continuing to rise, it is now more important that those eligible get fully vaccinated as quickly as possible.

Rising numbers

The latest case rates in both Newcastle and Lichfield sit above the national average at 221 and 230 per 100,000 population.

Staffordshire County Council’s Director of Public Health Dr Richard Harling said: “There will be lots of plans for holidays and festivals over the summer holiday, but please do everything you can to keep each other safe. Covid has not gone away, and we can all play our part to keep our communities safe.

“Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect ourselves and others, particularly our most vulnerable residents.

“It’s never too late to get your Covid vaccinations and I would urge everyone eligible to book yourself in for a jab as soon as possible.”
