We launched the Beds for Kids campaign in 2023, following increasing demand for children’s beds from families who could not afford one of their own.
In the last year alone we have delivered more than 400 brand-new bed bundles throughout North Staffordshire – which include a new bed, mattress plus all the bedding – a cost of approximately £80,000.
And the demand is not going away…
There is a staggering level of child bed poverty in North Staffs, an estimated 9,000 local children without their own bed to sleep in. NO – the demand is not going away.
Having no bed to sleep in can seriously affect a child’s wellbeing and education. We know this from the feedback we receive from the families we support.
“Your support means the world to me & the children. We can’t thank you enough. Please accept my deepest gratitude. Your assistance has been invaluable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You kindness deeply moves me. At bedtime the children look forward to sleeping in their own beds. They wake up fresh and focused ready for school. Thank to everyone.”
To continue to support more families we rely heavily on donations and sales from our charity store in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, which stocks furniture and household items, white goods, clothing, bric-a-brac and more. We open to the public six days a week, collect donations for free, and also do home deliveries. Fundraisers for our Beds for Kids campaign have also been a massive help as we enter our third year of providing a bed to children without one of their own.
