A special art exhibition celebrating Stoke-on-Trent’s 100th anniversary will open this summer at The Potteries Centre. “A Century of Us,” organised in partnership with Yellow by Keep It Local, the gallery will showcase work by local artists honouring the city’s rich heritage and vibrant community.
Running from Saturday, June 7th through to Tuesday, September 30th, the exhibition will feature original 2D and 3D artwork including paintings, drawings, photography, textiles, ceramics and sculptures, all with connections to Stoke-on-Trent.
“This exhibition is a celebration of our city’s centenary milestone,” said Amy Whittaker, Centre Director at The Potteries Centre. “We’re excited to showcase the talent of local artists while honouring the history, culture and people that have shaped Stoke-on-Trent over the past 100 years.”
Andy Nixon, owner of Yellow by Keep It Local, added: “As a Stokie myself, I’m incredibly proud to host this exhibition that allows us to look back at some of the key parts of the history of our city. This centenary is a momentous occasion for Stoke-on-Trent, and through the artwork of our talented local community, we’ll be able to celebrate our shared heritage and the unique identity that makes our city special.”
Call for Artists
It is not too late for artists with connections to Stoke-on-Trent to apply to be a part of this historic event. Artists that are interested in exhibiting are encouraged to submit their work for consideration. The exhibition offers significant opportunities for selected artists:

- Two prestigious prizes, including:
- A “shop for a week” opportunity at The Potteries Centre
- £200 cash prize sponsored by Yellow By Keep It Local
Submissions are being accepted until May 30th, with artists notified of acceptance by May 31st. Selected artwork must be delivered to Yellow by Keep It Local in The Potteries, between June 1st and June 5th.
Peter Rothwell of PR Photography, a local photographer planning to submit work for the exhibition, expressed his enthusiasm: “Stoke-on-Trent’s visual landscape tells a powerful story of resilience, creativity, and community spirit. As someone who’s spent years capturing the evolving face of our city through my lens, I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to ‘A Century of Us’. This exhibition offers artists like myself a meaningful platform to share our unique perspectives on Stoke’s journey and celebrate what makes our city extraordinary. I can’t wait to see how different artists interpret our collective history.”

All exhibited pieces will be available for purchase, with proceeds supporting local artists and the creative community in Stoke-on-Trent.
