Weston Park names Compton Care its charity of the year

A Wolverhampton based charity providing specialist palliative and end of life care has been named as Weston Park’s 40th anniversary charity of the year.

Compton Care offers vital support to people living with complex and life limiting conditions, and to their families.

It costs £10 million every year to run Compton Care’s clinical services, of which 60 per cent is funded through generous community support.

Each year Weston Park, the award-winning stately home on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border, chooses a charity to support, and for 2026 it has selected Compton as its charity partner with a pledge to raise funds through a variety of initiatives.

Last year, they raised £7,885 for the Midlands Air Ambulance.

Colin Sweeney, chief executive officer of the Weston Park Foundation – the independent charity that owns and maintains the historic house and grounds and that is this year celebrating its 40th anniversary – said: “We are proud to be supporting Compton Care as our charity partner for 2026.

“Its work makes a profound difference to so many individuals and families, and we are delighted to be able to play a part in helping it to continue its essential services.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting charities that have a meaningful impact within our local communities.”

Colin added that the partnership will focus on supporting Compton Care’s work across local and regional communities. Optional donations will be added to event ticket sales and donation stations will be set up across the estate.

Kate Kelly, corporate, trusts and major donor manager at Compton Care, said: “We are absolutely delighted and honoured to be chosen as Weston Park’s charity of the year.

“This partnership means a great deal to everyone at Compton Care and to the patients and families we support across our community. Weston Park’s generosity will help us continue providing compassionate, specialist care to people living with life limiting conditions.

“We are incredibly grateful for their support and look forward to working together to make a real difference.”

Compton Care, based in Compton, Wolverhampton, aims to provide high-quality, specialist palliative care, supporting people to live as well as possible for as long as possible, while offering care and comfort at the end of life.
