ANITA HARRIS ART POTTERY – THE PERFECT CHRISTMAS GIFT

Anita Harris Pottery is known for its exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. Each piece is meticulously handcrafted, reflecting Anita’s artistic vision and expertise. The pottery showcases a harmonious blend of traditional techniques and contemporary designs, making it a true testament to Anita’s creativity.

Anita’s journey in ceramics began in 1987, her first job was with a local pottery in the dorset village where she lived.  From here she moved onto Poole pottery where she designed ranges  for  Liberty, John Lewis, Harrods, Tiffany and many other top stores , Anita was at Poole  Pottery from 1992 to 2002

In 2005 Anita relocated from a life in Dorset  to Stoke On Trent  Staffordshire , where she designed for `Moorcroft’s, Black Ryden  and Cobridge Stoneware.

On redundancy in 2005 Anita took the brave step of setting up her own business.

2005 to present – Anta and her son Peter’s work breaths in the history embedded within the walls of their studio set in this wonderful old building, set in the cobbles of Short street, Longton  which in itself  steeped in history, being the cobbles and building used in the 80’s  for Arnolds Bennetts ‘ Anna of the five towns’  Tv production.

In this studio, a space steeped in local manufacturing history, Anita, and her son Peter’s work, breathing in the history embedded within the walls; creating what has been described by experts as “Antiques of the Future.”

This is a boutique family business, and all the artwork is produced by Anita and her son Peter alone, offering customised designs, commissions, and a myriad of beautiful and unique ceramics.  Since 2005 Anta and Pete have built the Art pottery into an award-winning business.  Anita’s signature is the bright pallet of colours that she uses on most of her pieces.

She is also well known for her use of glaze and the layering techniques she uses to build up, texture , colour and lustre.  Some pieces must be fired up to 5 times to end up as the beautiful pieces that you see in the shops. It can often take many hours to make even the smallest pieces as every single one is unique and moulded and painted by hand.

She is also very well known for her animal pieces, From the smallest frog right up to that staggeringly beautiful big cats, eagles and busts of horse’s head’s that radiate movement.

One of Pete’s current designs is of a beautiful Hare. Pete sculpted and hand built the Hare which was then fired to bisque and then went through the skilful process of being made into moulds so that  it could be reproduced . Each Hare is slightly different with its ears a different angles. It is then hand painted by Anita in varying colours and designs making each Hare unique and one of one

She has also produced some amazing commemorative pieces for example the vase made for the Kings Coronation, made in limited numbers. However, many of the pieces that she produces are very affordable as well as being unique.
