Andy and Helen, the owners of Eagle House in Eccleshall, were thrilled on Thursday evening to receive The Enjoy Staffordshire Gold award for best B&B and Guest House of the Year! It was the 10th anniversary of the award ceremony and the National Memorial Arboretum in Lichfield provided the beautiful back drop for these prestigious awards.
The husband and wife team were absolutely delighted to win, having worked really hard over the last 3 years, setting up and running their business. They won Silver in last year’s competition, and are delighted to now receive the top award, acknowledging their progression and success. They also received bronze awards in the Self Catering Accommodation of the Year and Ethical, Responsible & Sustainable Tourism categories.
Andy said “It is a great honour to win these awards and we’d like to thank all the staff at Enjoy Staffordshire for running such a wonderful and inspiring event.”
Eagle House is a stunning Grade 2 listed residence, with over 200 years of history. It offers three spacious and elegant Bed and Breakfast rooms as well as the Eagle’s Nest, a cosy one bedroom self-catering Apartment. It’s luxurious, with lots of little extras and also impressed the judges with its commitment to sustainability. It is the only accommodation provider in the area with an Electric Car Charger for guests!
Located in Eccleshall, in the heart of Staffordshire, Eagle House is just a few minutes stroll from its thriving and elegant High Street, containing an array of independent shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes. Helen said “We feel so lucky to live in Eccleshall! It is such a warm and welcoming community, there is always something going on and so many nice places to eat and drink. But we also have the tranquil Staffordshire countryside right on our door step and our guests also love to explore all the pretty woods and footpaths”.
But Helen and Andy aren’t going to rest on their laurels after winning. They have plans to improve Eagle House even further and hope to make the building even more eco-friendly and also add to its charming and beautiful décor. They are already looking forward to entering next year’s Enjoy Staffordshire competitions and would encourage other local businesses to enter too! They say they find the competition process and feedback from the judges really motivating and helpful in improving their business and giving the best guest experience possible.
