As the festive season approaches, Dougie Mac is inviting the local community to support their local hospice by donating and dedicating a light to shine in memory of someone.
Light up a Life is one of Dougie Mac’s flagship seasonal fundraising campaigns. It is a special, seasonal and heart-warming initiative which gives the local community the chance to light up the hospice’s giant Christmas tree which will stand proud within the grounds of Dougie Mac’s adult hospice, while remembering the loved ones they’re missing this Christmas.
Donna Adams, Head of Community Fundraising at Dougie Mac, said, “Light up a Life is a really special campaign which brings together our local community as they remember their loved ones. It’s always a very special moment when our Christmas tree lights are switched on for the first time, knowing that each one represents someone special. This year our tree will shine brightly from 4pm on Sunday 8th December, after our Celebration of Life event at the Victoria Hall.
“It’s easy to be a part of our Light up a Life campaign and anyone can donate and dedicate a light on our tree, even if their loved ones haven’t received care from Dougie Mac. What’s more, everyone who takes part will receive some special mementos to thank them for their support.”
In return for a donation to Dougie Mac, everyone who takes part will receive;
- a special wooden Light up a Life decoration to hang on their own tree
- a Christmas card including the names of the loved ones they’re remembering
- two complimentary tickets for the special Celebration of Life event
- their loved ones names will be included in a special Book of Memories, which will be available to view at the Celebration of Life event and also online
The Celebration of Life event at the Victoria Hall, Hanley, at 3pm on Sunday 8th December will include a mixture of contemporary music and dance, reflection and celebration. Anyone who makes a donation to Light up a Life will be offered two complementary tickets for the event, while additional tickets can also be purchased at £3 each.
Donna added, “Light up a Life is a real highlight in our fundraising calendar. By taking part not only are you remembering your own loved ones, you’re also helping to ensure that Dougie Mac can continue to offer care and support services for people of all ages across our local community, for many years to come.”
