Looping Group confirms the acquisition of Waterworld Leisure Resort

Looping Group (“Looping”), the leading European operator of regional leisure parks confirms the acquisition of Waterworld Leisure Group who operate Waterworld Leisure Resort, one of the most iconic indoor waterparks in England.

Discussions between Looping Group and Waterworld’s owners began over a year ago, with the shared vision of ensuring the long-term growth and success of this flagship attraction.

“The deal was finalised on 31st of July and although Looping Group has been pleased to welcome the park in the Looping group family, we have all been saddened by the recent tragic accident and extend our deepest thoughts and sympathy to the family of the young girl involved and stand by the Waterworld teams” commented Laurent Bruloy, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of the Looping Group.

We will continue to support the local community. I want to thank Mo for his trust and support — Waterworld has been a remarkable family success story that we are excited to develop further.”

This acquisition marks a new chapter for the UK’s No 1 tropical, indoor aqua park, which has been a landmark destination in the English Midlands for more than three decades. Since opening in 1989, Waterworld has welcomed millions of visitors, becoming a flagship attraction for families across the country. Under the leadership of entrepreneur Mo Chaudry, who took over the aqua park in 1999, the Waterworld Resort has doubled in size, with continuous investment and expansion, including the launch of new Adventure Mini Golf and Mini Village attractions.

Waterworld becomes the Looping Group’s 4th leisure attraction in England, the 22nd in Europe and the 7th waterpark in their portfolio.

This acquisition also enables Looping to strengthen its presence as a dominant force in the Leisure sector in the region and form a trio of nearby attractions with Drayton Manor Resort and West Midlands Safari Park already under its ownership. In line with Looping’s mission, each of these parks will still maintain its own identity and positioning. Waterworld will continue to grow and develop with the same entrepreneurial DNA and values that have taken the attraction from strength-to-strength under Mo Chaudry’s direction historically, and Looping intend to take the complex ever further.
