A British film is premiering at one of the most famous movie theatres in the world. Chinese Whispers is an action romantic comedy filmed on location in the Midlands, England, in the winter of 2025. It will be screened at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, LA, in America on September 10th.
Director Deborah Hadfield says it is a dream come true to have our movie on the big screen at the iconic Chinese Theatre as part of the Silicon Beach Film Festival. She says: “Cinematic legends have left their hand prints outside the Chinese Theatre for decades. For us to be following in their footsteps is incredible.
For our passion project to lead us to Hollywood is incredible. I am deeply grateful to every single member of our talented team who has made this possible.”
The movie has won 130 awards globally including Best Film and Best Director at the World Independent Cinema Awards. Writer and Director Deborah says:”Winning international awards is an amazing way to spotlight the talents of our incredible team.

The director’s last film, The Chocolate Club, is preparing for a theatrical release in the UK. It won almost 150 awards and is currently streaming globally. The movie sold all over the world, from North America to the Middle East. The director, who lives in Staffordshire, filmed on locations from the Peak District to Cornwall. She said: “I always look for spots that can both tell the story but will also delight the audience.We shot scenery from the snake pass in the Peak District to Fistral Beach in Newquay.”
The Chinese Whispers has scooped awards for many of its cast. Leading lady Rose Muirhead has won 7 awards for best actress. Leading man Jonathan Bemner, who has appeared in Aquaman 2,has been honoured with 5 best actor awards. “Our cast’s performances are really catching the attention of judges at film festivals around the world. I am so proud of all the well deserved honours they are receiving,” said Deborah.
The film follows 5 friends who reunite on Christmas Eve to honour their dead school friend. Deborah, her producers and cast will be attending the premiere in Hollywood.
The movie also featured international building star Guy Phoenix in a small cameo. Guy also supported the team by allowing them to film at one of his spectacular developments, Tall Treesin Nottinghamshire. The luxurious house was featured on Guy’s show Building Britain’s Superhomes. Deborah says: “Without Guy’s kindness and hospitality the movie wouldn’t be so wonderful. He is such an inspiring person to work with. Guy and Michelle were incredibly supportive. They both attended the premiere in Cannes which meant the world to us.
Deborah, a former TV presenter and reporter for ITV, BBC, AL Jazeera, and Arise TV, has made a series of short films and features which have been screened around the world, winning hundreds of international awards. She set up her company Queen Bee Films to make movies. She says her films are designed to entertain and inspire people. She says:”Film making is a collaborative art form. I am deeply blessed to work with such incredible talents like our Director of Photography Jack Peter Mundy, who worked passionately to create world class production values on a modest budget.”
Ted Lasso star and Liv Golf presenter Arlo White plays one of the key characters, Anthony Heart. Deborah says:”Arlo and I have been friends for a long time. It’s been wonderful to see him blossom as an actor, He has won 4 awards internationally which shows what a natural talent he is.” She says I am deeply proud of what an amazing performance he gave.
The movie has also won awards for art director and Derbyshire artist Victoria Wolny. “Victoria was such an incredible member of our production team. Featuring her fabulous paintings and new art studio in Repton was an honour. I want the world to see how talented she is, ” says Deborah.
The Queen Bee Films’ team is already working on its next feature, Connected. Deborah says the romantic thriller will shoot in the Midlands in the Autumn. She says:”It is so exciting to beworking with my team again. It takes a huge team to bring a movie to life.
