Lichfield Garrick Theatre is looking for two talented Midlands-based creatives to join the production team for its highly anticipated Christmas season, as the venue continues to support the development of artistic talent across the region.
With two exciting opportunities now available, the theatre is encouraging emerging and established creatives alike to play a key role in bringing its festive productions to life for a combined audience of over 50,000 people.
They’re on the hunt for an experienced Theatre Designer to work with Shoddy Theatre Company on their hilarious Studio show, A Shoddy Nativity, produced by The Production Garden Ltd, and an early career Theatre Director to assist the Garrick’s in-house Director, Daniel Buckroyd, on the theatre’s all-singing-all-dancing pantomime, Robin Hood.
The successful Assistant Director will support the smooth running of rehearsals and work with understudies to ensure that the show can always go ahead. This is a rare opportunity for an early career theatre-maker to play a key role in the Garrick’s biggest professional production of the year.
Complementing the Garrick’s iconic pantomime, Shoddy Theatre Company and The Production Garden Ltd will be lighting up the venue’s Studio once again with A Shoddy Nativity, building on the success of last year’s A Shoddy Christmas Carol which was seen by nearly 5000 visitors. The theatre is looking for an experienced theatre designer who can work with the Shoddy team to bring the physical and visual world of this madcap comedy to life.
Following the success of Disenchanted!, the venue’s first home-produced professional musical which is now heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Garrick is thrilled to be creating these two new shows for Lichfield audiences this Christmas, cementing the theatre’s growing reputation as a regional centre for theatre making and talent development.
Lichfield Garrick’s CEO & Artistic Director said:
