Choosing the perfect venue for your wedding is tougher than you think. What with the vast amount of choice on offer and all the things that need be taken into consideration, it’s one of the biggest decisions to make. You’ll probably have a list as long as your arm to think about. But fear not, as we’ve made this list on how to choose a wedding venue for you.
1. Budget
Probably the first and foremost thing to consider before you do anything is how much cash you’ve got to spend. Your budget will obviously have a big impact on the size and type of venue to go for and it’s important to be realistic. There’s no point busting the budget on one venue when another could be just as good but a lot less expensive.
2. What type of wedding
Are you planning something traditional and classic? Perhaps high end glamour and glitz is your thing, or maybe you want something more rustic and relaxed? Whatever your wedding choice, you’ll want to match your wedding venue to it. 3. When
Think about when your wedding is going to be. The middle of summer or in the depths of winter? Perhaps Spring or Autumn? Time of year will undoubtedly impact on your venue choice. A remote country farm, for example, will be lovely in summer but might be difficult for your guests to get to in a snowstorm in January.
4. Location
Are you planning to wed at home or abroad, just down the road from where you live or a 100-mile drive away? Whatever your desire think about how your guests will get there and how practical it will be.

If you’re planning a banquet to feed 500, then obviously you’re going to need something substantially different to the person who is planning a more intimate ceremony for 30 guests. Obviously, the more you invite the more money you will spend, and getting the size right for the party is important as you don’t want to pay over the odds for a huge room you don’t need.
6. What’s included
Make sure you know exactly what is included in the price of the venue. Some will provide services, such as decorating the room but may charge extra for them, while others will include in the overall price. Make a list of questions to ask as if you’re on a tight budget. These things could have a big impact on which venue you choose.
7. Plan B
We all know what the British summer can be like so if you’re planning an outdoor wedding it’s vital to have a plan B. Most venues will have a range of suggestions for last-minute alternatives so make sure you’re happy with these in case the worst should happen. You don’t want your dream to become a nightmare just because of the weather.
8. Parking
It’s probably not the first thing on your list let’s face it, but it’s still important nonetheless. Nothing causes misery like parking chaos and the last thing you want on your big day is to hear people moaning about it. If you love the venue but it only has limited parking then perhaps it might be worth laying on some transport for your guests. Just remember to go back and check your budget before you decide.
