Bellway - West Midlands - SNAP donation (17)

Housebuilder makes £500 donation to special needs play charity in Cannock

Bellway has made a donation to a Cannock charity which provides a safe place to play for children and adults with special needs in Staffordshire.

Bellway West Midlands, which is building new homes at Green Oaks, off Pye Green Road in Hednesford, has contributed £500 to SNAP (Special Needs Adventure Playground) which lies less than half a mile down the road.

The SNAP site provides an indoor facility with a soft play area, a sensory room and an activity/craft/computer/party room, as well as a secure outside space featuring an adventure playground with a wheelchair swing and an inclusive roundabout, a cycle track with a variety of bikes, trikes and scooters and a wider range of toys.

SNAP Chairman Robert Heighway said: “The Special Needs Adventure Playground (SNAP) is a bespoke local charity which provides both indoor and outdoor play facilities for children with additional needs and their families throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands.

“As a ‘one-off’ local charity, we are dependent for our sustainability upon fundraising and donations. This is why SNAP is so grateful for the wonderful donation of £500 from Bellway. This can make a substantial contribution to pay for our increasing general running costs. We would like to say thank you to Bellway for this kind donation – it is very much appreciated.”

Marie Richards, Sales Director for Bellway West Midlands, said: “SNAP is a marvellous asset which offers an invaluable service to allow children and adults with special needs to play in a safe and non-judgemental environment. This service also enables the parents of the youngsters who use this playground the opportunity to relax and to chat to other parents and carers in a similar situation.

“This is a charity which not only deserves, but also needs, all the support it can get from the community it serves so well. We are pleased to hear that our donation will help SNAP with the running costs involved in providing this important service.”
