Local cricketers bowled over by sponsorship

Cheadle and Checkley cricket clubs have each received a generous donation totalling £2,000 from Walton Homes.

The Tamworth-based housebuilder pledged its ongoing commitment to their local community by sponsoring Checkley Cricket Club for a second, consecutive year, and Cheadle Cricket Club for the third year in a row.

Stephen Plant, Chairman of Cheadle Cricket Club says: “We really value our partnership with the Walton Homes team and are thrilled our sponsorship has been continued. Their long-standing support has funded the purchase of our kits, enabling us to allocate our own funds to much needed improvements for our club. Such as the re-surfaced our car park and the building of new practice facilities.”

“It’s always a delight to welcome the Walton Homes team to cheer on our players, including new members from its Augustus Fields development nearby.”

Cheadle is a friendly, sociable and inclusive cricket club.  First established in 1878, it has seven senior squads, including a women’s team, that play at its two grounds in Cheadle and Oakmoor.  Including the 1st Team which plays in the Premier Division. “Staffordshire has always been famous for its cricket, so to work with such fantastic teams on this has been both beneficial for us and the historical clubs. We are proud to sponsor the teams and are looking forward to watching them play.”
