Putting the “FUN” into FUNdraising

Dougie Mac has launched a selection of exciting and fun events for 2025. From skydives to an evening of fine-dining; Bike rides to Swimathons, there’s something for every age and ability, aswell as the chance to take part on your own or with friends.

The hospice’s calendar of fundraising events kicks off in March with Dougie Mac’s Circus Extravaganza Ball, a firm favourite in the diary for many supporters this year promises to be full of fun with a fabulous circus theme.

Next up it’s Dougie Mac’s 10k run, on Sunday 6th April at World of Wedgwood. The chip-timed run is designed for experienced runners who are looking for a challenge, as the course takes them through the picturesque local scenery with plenty of twists, turns and hills to put their fitness to the test.

If you’re looking for a 10k challenge with a gentler pace, Dougie Mac’s hugely popular Moonlight Walk could be for you. The City streets will turn pink again as hundreds of walkers, dressed in pink Dougie Mac t-shirts and fancy dress, set off at 10pm and complete the 10k route throughout the night. It’s a much-loved event that brings together people of all ages and abilities as they walk to support their local hospice and, in many cases, share memories of the loved ones who have received care from Dougie Mac.

These are just three of the exciting fundraising events Dougie Mac has planned for 2025. There are lots more to come, including a Fine Dining event in May; Family friendly Colour Dash in the Summer and of course Christmas Jumper Day in December. Keep an eye on Dougie Mac’s website and social media channels for details of all fundraising events throughout 2025 – you can register your interest in Christmas Jumper Day 2025 now.

Deborah Vickers, Head of Business and Events Fundraising at Dougie Mac, explained, “For 2025 we’ve come up with a varied selection of fundraising events that will hopefully offer something for everyone. These include firm favourites like our 10k, Bike Ride and Moonlight Walk, but also some newer events like our Swimathon which is brand new for 2025, and our Colour Dash which was really popular with our younger supporters for the first time last year.

“Plus we can also help supporters who are looking to take part in bigger challenges like tough mudders, the London Marathon, Great North Run and Alton Towers Race.

“Whatever challenge you’ve set yourself for 2025, our team of dedicated fundraisers are available to guide you through your fundraising journey and help you to raise as much money as possible for your local hospice. We rely hugely on the support and generosity of our local community, by taking part in any of our fundraising events, or signing up for a challenge event, you’ll not only be having lots of fun, but you’ll be supporting families across our local community and enabling Dougie Mac to be there for them when they need us.”
