Dougie Mac’s popular 10k run returns on Sunday 6th April, starting at World of Wedgwood, Barlaston.
The chip-timed run is aimed at keen runners who are looking for a challenge, as the course takes them through the local countryside, with plenty of twists, turns and hills to put their fitness to the test, with road closures in place to ensure their safety.
Deborah Vickers, Head of Business and Events Fundraising, said, “The Dougie Mac 10k is aimed at competitive runners who want to improve their personal best times and also those runners who want to set themselves a challenge. Our route will once again start and finish at the beautiful World of Wedgwood, where spectators can also gather to cheer on our runners.
“This is the second year we’ve organised our 10k and we’re hoping to grow the event so that it becomes a firm favourite in the local running calendar. Everyone taking part will not only be setting themselves a challenge, they’ll also be making a real difference to the children, young adults and adults we support. The money they raise through their registration fee and fundraising will enable us to continue our care and support services so that we can be there for local families whenever and wherever they need us.”
Dougie Mac’s 10k gives runners the chance to support the hospice with or without additional fundraising targets. The £25 fundraising entry has an expectation that runners will raise additional money through sponsorship, but for those who just want to take part, with no additional fundraising target, there is also a £40 registration fee.
